Scatter Brained

I feel like I have so much to post but can't for the life of me remember what it was I was dying to put up on here! Ever have that happen to you? You get yourself all excited to do something and then have no idea what it is you were excited about.

Let's see:

Linky Update:
My Linkster has definitely reached his terrible twos! Everything is NOOOOOO! We've even had some foot stamping action. So far, unlike when Maddy had her tantrums, as long as we distract Link and give him something else to do or think about he's fine. But he's getting so fresh. I'm very proud to say that Link is so bright! His daycare provider loves him because he's a "sponge that picks up everything on the first try". She has the Childcare Counsel of LI come once a week to do a reading program and each week they learn a new book, activity and the kids get to take the new books home. Link loves to read or should I say demand, "Mommy read Linky". He can now count to 10. His sign language constantly keeps me on my toes. And the love! Aww, does he give the most awesome "shuper hugs!"

Maddy Update:
Maddy's cousin got her period and now she's looking at me with the "that's not fair, why don't I have mine yet?" I keep telling her, the longer the wait, the better! Because once it gets here - it's a WRAP!!! LOL Miss Attitudy gets snippety over everything and anything. If she drops something on the floor and you ask her to pick it up, you get "uh, sigh, hm, sigh" for a good five minutes then she forgets about it, and has to be asked again. And that second request? You would think we asked her to stick her hand through a burning fire to retrieve it from a rabid pitbull. Yikes! Her period may not be here but the hormones have definitely arrived with a vengeance.

Cello practice has become a "torture MOM! Ugh!" - even though her music teacher said that she may be invited to a special weekend trip to play music come this spring if she keeps up with her practicing at home! She wants to go, of course, but doesn't want to put in the practice time to get there. Crazy, right?

Well, I have no idea if that's what I wanted to talk about but I figured updates never hurt. Oh, and I am super excited for tomorrow's Senior Gender Bender Day. I plan on raiding hubby's closet and drawing a full beard on myself and everything. I love to support my graduates, and can't wait to see my fellas don their push up bras and leggings! It's guaranteed to be a stifled giggly day tomorrow!!

Maddy Story #152

I was just reading Mahogany Way's blog about Her son, Her period, when I had a flashback to when Maddy was about 4 years old too. My sister was with me and it's one of the funniest and most embarrassing mom moments ever. Be ready for a little TMI on this one!

I was at a step show in Brooklyn with my sister and Maddy and I was a judge. During intermission I rushed to use the bathroom with Maddy in tow because she claimed she had to go. Of course, we get to the closet sized high school bathroom which was packed because steppers were also using it as a dressing room. Remember, that piece of info - packed!

Me: Maddy do you have to go?

Maddy: Uh, uh. You go. I don't want to anymore.

Me: Are you sure?

Maddy: Yup.

I didn't want to leave her outside the stall because it was so crowded, so I brought her in the stall with me. I had my period and needed to make a "change". I instructed Maddy to turn and face the door while I did this. Of course, she didn't listen, and this is what happened next:

Maddy: EWWW

Me: Shhhhh

Maddy: Mommy you nasty.

Me: No, Mommy's not

Maddy: Uh, huh, Mommy you doo-doo yourself. See! I see it right there on your panty!! Ewww Mommy doodoo herself!!!

Top of her frickin' lungs. The once bustling bathroom is now so eerily quiet, I know what's coming next - the laughter! Everyone in that bathroom is hysterical laughing as I try to explain to my 4yr old that "mommy has her period which is blood not doodoo and that it's not "on" mommy's panty but on a pad" that I'm now obligated to show her.

We have Period 101 in the crowded bathroom stall of Boy and Girls High School. When I walked out, a soror I didn't know put her hand on my shoulder, gave it a firm squeeze and said, "I have one too, and I'm so glad now that I left her home." I got a few more "you're not alone" before I got back to my seat.

So, Mahogany, that's when shared bathroom trips stopped for me!

He Found His Willie!!

It's over! All of my mommies with boys have been telling me this would happen and I just thought they were just kidding. WRONG! I was changing Linky's diaper and before I could finish opening the straps he had his hand inside pulling on ding-a-ling! It's not like saw it and said, "Wow, what's that?" He just instictively grabbed it! That was on Friday, since then he continues to do play with it during diaper changes. Oddly, he doesn't bother with it during bath time when he's naked and can see it in the water. Women have been making fun of men for years for always adjusting or holding on to their penis' in public and we can never understand where the fascination comes from...well, for Linky the fascination started at 7 months and 4 weeks!! LOL

Fun Day!

This morning Lincoln had his checkup at the pediatrician's and all went well. He can now try chicken, cheese, yogurt, and continue on to more "complex" fruits and veggies, ie strawberries, etc. We picked up Maddy after the appt. from her cello lesson and we off to the library (library is becoming my new best friend). We had BABY BOOGIE this morning for an hour. Linky got to meet other babies, which he was fascinated by, play with some musical instruments, crawl around (though he's still swimming around - pediatrician said to put him on the floor more), dance with mommy, sing, and play. It was so much fun. Of course in the middle of it, he grabbed for the boobies and almost ripped my shirt off - We took a 10 minute feeding break and then went right back to the festivities. After that we came home and chilled for a little while b/c daddy was coming home early and we invited his sister to bring the kids out to the pool. We got there around 2:30 and hung out for about an hour or so b/c while the sun was hot, the water was cold. I stayed in the nice warm baby pool with Linky!! Afterwards the big kids went to the park to play while I came home with Link and hubby to cook (his sister's crew didn't want to eat though - which is fine cuz now I don't have to cook tomorrow - whooohooo!) They dropped Maddy, hung out for about 20 minutes and then left to get back home. All in all it was a pretty awesome day.
