Scariest Toddler Moment?

Imagine waking up 4 in the morning to this:

Somehow Link snuck in our bed in the middle of the night. I look over at hubby's pillow and notice two dark spots on his pillow at 4am in the dark.
As I turn the light on, Link turns his head to me in his sleep and there is blood everywhere!

I panic! I snatch him up in my lap and grab tissues from the headboard to try to find the source of all the blood.

When I tell you I almost fainted from fear it would be a gross understatement! I broke into a full body sweat, my stomach was doing belly flips, and my arms were tingling. I woke up out of my sleep and my first reaction was that someone had killed him. There was just do much blood and he remained asleep the entire time I tried cleaning him up.

There was blood all over his face, hands, sleeves, the pillow, the sheets, and the remote control looked as if he'd been beaten with it. I'd never been so scared. Plus, it wasn't helping that hubby was at work not picking up his phone.

Turns out it was the worst nosebleed in the history of nosebleeds! And it seemed to last forever. He had one last year and it was minuscule in comparison. He had another one in his sleep last night that was also tiny. I have to lower the thermostat at night since the weather is warming up.

Has your toddler ever given you a near heart attack! Share your story.

Sleeping Late? What's That?

DAY ONE OF SPRING BREAK - LINCOLN GOT US UP AT 6:30AM

DAY TWO OF SPRING BREAK - LINCOLN GOT ME UP AT 6AM

When my students and coworkers asked me what my plans were for break, I said, "Hoping to get my son to let me sleep past 7:30am".

Two days in and I don't think it's going to happen...and I've been letting him stay up late! He fell asleep with a cracker in his mouth last night at 8:45, for him that's like midnight!

I'm Gonna "F" You Mommy ( 2 year old Bad Word Story)

Disclaimer: My mother warned me about this...

It's an early afternoon, Linky and I are in bed. Me watching some TV and Linky is playing with his Hulk "Hash" (can't say smash) and his toy horse.

Some random commercial comes on and there is a "fight" scene.

Linky starts smashing Hulk and horse together and mumbles, "Hulk gonna fuck you horsey"

Me: (after a second of shock) Link...what did you say?

Link: Hulk gonna fuck horsey...see...

He proceeds to show me them "fighting".

Me: Link...Hulk and horsey are going to FI -IGHT

Link: No, mommy, no they not. Now your turn. Linky gonna fuck you too!

And he comes to play "fight" with me. At this point I can hear Maddy and hubby in the kitchen laughing hysterically while I try to calmly explain to my 2 year old how to pronounce the word "fight". But since Nana already had this situation happen on her watch and she admitted to laughing, he now knows it's something NOT to be said...thus he kept on saying it.

Me: (exasperated after 2 mins) Ok, Linky. The right way to say it is "fight". Hulk and horsey are going to FIGHT.

Link: (giggling) No, Mommy! I'm gonna fuck you!!!!!!!

Me: HONEY!!! Linky wants to show you something!!!

Maddy and hubby came a few minutes later after they finally managed to control their laughter long enough to distract Linky with a different toy.

Parents of toddlers:
When your child says a naughty word either on purpose or by mispronunciation, please, please, please....whatever you do - DON'T LAUGH!!!

Almost But Not Quite!

Linky will be a one year old toddler in exactly seven days!!! I cannot believe my little man is walking, babbling, pointing, drinking juice, eating real food (making real poos), and, well, is not my teeny tiny little thing anymore. In exactly one week my son will no longer be classified as an infant! I just want to freeze him at this size, this age, this happy go lucky, free spirited time in his life! Everything is new and excited, things that are off-limits are so enticing! I just don't want to let him go at night after he falls asleep, I could literally hold him for hours (and I have)! He's learned what "NO" means, and he does not like it at all. His pout starts in stages and we have to figure out how to get it on camera without him seeing it (he's a ham for the cam). It starts out in this mini-frown, then the eyebrow knit just a little as the bottle lip begins to pertrude, then the eyebrows get closer together, the infinitiy tear pools in one eye, and then we have full blown bottom lip pout with quiver. It is so very hard to keep a straight face when you're telling him "NO", and he makes the pouty face. He really has mastered it. If we can catch it, I promise to do a side by side comparison from when he was only a few weeks old to now. In the meantime enjoy some hair combing fun.
