How many moms and dads can relate this school shopping conversation:
How about this?
No...I don't like that.
What about this?
No...that looks babyish.
I really like this one.
I don't.
Why don't you try this on?
But I already know it's not going to fit.
How do you know?
Cuz...I don't like it, and if I don't like it, it won't fit properly.
Finished school clothes shopping yesterday and wanted to put a bullet through my head. There is no unwritten rule that you have to buy new school stuff every year!! My daughter does not seem to understand this concept. I bought only items that she outgrew (jeans, shoes, pants), and a few super sale item tops that I had coupons for (my bill first totaled $153...but the time they got through all my coupons it was $72!!)
Then Maddy tells me her bookbag needs to be replaced because and I quote "I destroyed my last bookbag!" I bought one only to go house cleaning this morning to find said "destroyed" bookbag - it was PERFECT!! I was so pissed! I told her to get me the new bookbag so I could return it - of course, she had already taken off every tag and thrown them out!
So you know what I did? I asked for what was left of her summer spending money ($12) and I told her that was her payment for the new bookbag since she thinks my money grows on trees, I let her see how it felt to lose some for no reason!!
I'm going to need massive amounts of alcohol this school year, I can feel it already!!
Just sharing my thoughts on motherhood, marriage, teaching high school English, natural hair, weight loss and weight gain and life... the highs, the lows, the good, the bad, and the mommy!...it's just me being me...take a look and see...you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shake your head and sigh...and maybe just maybe, you'll learn something that you didn't know you needed to know.

School Shopping Requires Massive Amounts of Alcohol...

Baby? I am NOT looking forward to this. At. All. Mine broke down in tears—real BIG tears with snot and er' thang—this morning because she didn't like what she picked out for picture day, but didn't want to wear anything else, either. I just glazed over and quietly excused myself from the room. Clearly, nothing I said or did or suggested was good enough, so... yeah. We haven't gotten to the point where she gets nutty in the store, though. Yup--I'mma need drinks all around.
LOL. Moo isn't even in school yet and I already have the conversation with her when we go clothes shopping. I love that she's learning how to voice her opinion and that's learning to develop her sense of style. However, it can often make for a long shopping trip.
Erm... wow. Tweendom... huh?
I am cherishing the years I have before my daughter reached this phase.
