HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOMMY!!

Today is my birthday and I spent the majority of it with my mom and the kids. Let me rewind first. Yesterday my "adopted" daughter, one of my former students and kids babysitter, came over to surprise me with a Oreo cookie ice-cream cake and Sorrel Shandy (Carribean beer - which will have to wait until after nursing is over) b/c she wasn't sure what I'd be doing today. Little did she know that there was a surprise waiting for her. This lovely young lady who just recently graduated from Stonybrook University and is working on her nursing degree, ie struggling college student, just bought herself a car with the help of dear husband's advice and hookups. My husband decided in what can only be described as a fatherly gesture packed us all in the car to take her to buy new tires for her car. She was speechless and I felt nothing but love for what my hubby did for her. I knew we did the right thing when she said, "So this is what is feels like to have a daddy". She ended up staying the entire afternoon, we took the kids to the pool, I had my cake (she's lactose intolerant - more for me!) and then I begged her to stay b/c she was exhausted. She convinced me she was fine and texted me 40 minutes later back on campus. That was my yesterday. Good day, right?

Today, I dressed us all in birthday brown, but we forgot to take a pic earlier so the pic is at the end of the day when Linky was all cleaned up for bed. The kids and I met up with my mom and we went to Toast & Co. for brunch. I had Frosted Flakes crusted French Toast with fresh strawberries. It was delicious. Then we hit up a few shops and restaurants by the harbor b/c we keep forgetting how much stuff is out there in Huntington. After that Mom took me over to Macy's where I had my mini-Julia Roberts moment of shopping. She had already bought me one dress, and then she bought me three more, and then I bought myself one (you know I had coupons and a gift card!!!). Knowing that hubby was working and wouldn't be home til late we decided to do a combo birthday/anniversary dinner over the weekend and had some yummy home cooking from mom for dinner. All in all, it was a wonderful day. Waiting to see what hubby has up his sleeve though...heeheehee.
