Prayer...

Have any of you read, The Power of a Praying Wife or The Power of a Praying Husband by Stormie Omartian?

It was recommended to me and the first few pages really got me upset, and I sort of breezed past it. I couldn't help thinking 'why would a woman write this'? I wanted to through the book, call her up and say, "HUH?!" But...

...I get it...now. I realized with the help of my support network that while therapy is good, or medication, or exercise, or time alone is important for help with all I'm dealing with, but what's missing is PRAYER.

I'm no holy roller and I wouldn't say that any one in my support crew is either, but when it was initially suggested to me, I felt a small measure of relief. When all else fails you, you still have God, right?

I'm now in the process of attempting my own spiritual journey hoping to find a spiritual community to help me find my way. I'm looking into different churches to find one that I'm most comfortable with that may offer a women's group. I know there are millions that believe in the power of prayer, and to some extent so do I, I just didn't practice. The few people that I have shared this with are all supportive of my decision and even agree that it is a good idea.

I guess I'll see where all of this will lead me.

I love that you're seeking answers but what I love even more is that you're seeking for the answers in the right places. Whether it's confiding in close friends, seeking expert opinion, or self examination. Those outlets all serve a purpose. But it's great to read that you're also tapping in to the power of prayer. It brought tears to my eyes because I know for me it took me a lot longer to truly pursue that relationship and understand the peace the comes with it. I'll continue to pray for you and I ask that you pray for me as well. Agape at its finest.

@HHD - Thank you so much for your kind words. Hopefully my hubby will be inspired too.

I like that you're talking about prayer, not all women would admit that they don't do it enough, or whatever the case may be.
I want to pray more, but I also have many obstacles in my way- whether they are real obstacles or my own figments I don't know. Keep us updated on your progress!
