We've known for a minute...literally last week when they had to do the amnio at the hospital the ultrasound tech felt bad for me and gave me a little treat to send me home with. We are so excited and knowing makes bedrest just a tad bit more tolerable, you know. We only told immediate family and friends first with the disclaimer that we had to get a second check to confirm before we got too excited. Hubby didn't even try to act like it was "news". When it was time to go in for the ultrasound at the hospital my mother had just brought food (fried chicken and potato salad...soup for me), so of course DH was like: "Let your mom go, I'm going to eat". Fine.
When she wheels me in, I ask: "Can't the amnio they performed tell you the sex of the baby?" She says, "Of course, they didn't tell you?"
Me: "UM, NO"
Her: "I don't have the results here, but if you really want to know, I can find out for you"
Me: "UM, I WANT TO KNOW"
her: "You sure you want to know??"
ME: "UH, YUH HUH!! YES, PLEASE!!"
(mind you while she's examing my cervix and we're talking, my mother is behind the curtain on the phone with my grandmother...important info for next piece)
Her: "Well, looks like we've got ourselves a penis"
Me: "MOM, GET OFF THE PHONE!!! WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!"
Mom: "I'm not supposed to find out before your husband!"
Me: "Then you shouldn't have fed him...Fake it when we get back to the room"
When I wheeled back to my room, I must have been cheesin from ear to ear, because hubby says: "You look really happy"
Nurse tech: "You're about to be really happy"
Here goes my husband: "Man, I already knew I was having a boy!!" Unbelievable, I know!!! We were worried about my daughter because she's been telling everyone she was having a sister, oddly enough she was very excited. Once I got back into bed, she came over, kissed my belly and said: "Hi, baby brother"...tear tear, right?
